It is needless to say that every one of us has our struggles and battles. But how can we make a difference in this world despite that?
The thing is, a simple random act of kindness makes a difference! The world needs more compassionate people, and yes – that is you. Every little act of kindness, especially when done with pure intentions can change the world. As a bonus, your compassion has proven to increase happiness, reduce stress and improve emotional wellbeing.
The way we treat people, say things, and act are all rooted in our values. Some situations will make us want to change our character, but a genuinely kind soul will always choose to believe in the goodness of every circumstance. To be compassionate, we need to be at firsthand experience the toughness of life. In this way, it will be easier for us to understand the people around us.
But let us not forget that being kind does give us the license to become free of hurt. More often than not, the softest heart hurts the most. Not everyone has the same roots, so let us not expect them to do the same to us. When we do, we will always end up being disappointed. Be kind because you are kind - everything else will follow.
So what can I do? There are lots! You never know that some of these few acts may light up someone who’s having a rough day:
Reconnect with your loved ones. Try to reach out. Someone out there might be feeling alone.
Give someone a pure compliment. A simple yet authentic compliment comes a long way.
Offer help to someone who’s struggling.
Encourage. Your words are powerful. Try to say encouraging words instead of dragging their feelings.
Make amends with someone who has wronged you. It can be quite hard, but when you do, it rewards your soul.
I hope that this blog inspires you to make a difference. Kindness is a gift that keeps on giving. Don’t forget to pass it on. :)
